I have no interest in preserving it, saving it, hiding it away. I have one life and one life only and I intend to use it to its fullest, to burn it up and burn it out and leave behind more scar tissue than skin when I go to the grave, so that a lover could read you the story of my life from every ugly silver tire track I earned.
Five years old, bicycles, skinned knees. Slipping near the river and ripping off my skin. Crooked broken toes, blistered palms. A fight with a horse where the horse won. ER trips, illnesses. Shaving cuts. Cooking cuts. Chewed nails. A long hard time alone and the uneven lines I gave myself to get through it. Road burn, rug burn, gravel embedded under my skin. Acne marks and burns and too much time in the sun. Running barefoot and stepping on glass. Fighting and scarred knuckles. The hoof I was too slow to dodge. The punch nobody meant to throw. The rescued dog that bites.

Children want stories. They want information. They want knowledge about the strange world they’re in. Saying that the internet can be that is like setting a child free in a jungle and expecting them safely to find things to eat. — Neil Gaiman (via contrarylibrarian)
